Review: Great Phone, Easy to use, Looks Great
by: D. Evensen on date: March 9, 2007
I have no idea what the complaints are with this phone. My wife and daughter all have these phones. Its by far the best cell phone we ever have had. Easy to use, looks great, prestigious, dependable etc no complaints what more could you ask for. I agree with the cing comment, that is why I have tmobile.

The phone is great but it needs more free games and ringtones.

Review: Has problems

I have the Cingular version and I would recommend not buying it from them.

First on Cingular (AVOID):

1) they deliberately disable the feature that allows you to record and make your own ringtone. That's right: they deliberately make the phone unable to do something it comes from Motorola designed and able to do. They do this so you have to buy their ringtones (I learned all this because I wanted to configure it to use my toddler's voice saying "uh,oh" for a ringtone). Don't bother calling to complain or try to get this feature reenabled.

2) You will replace this phone at least once in the time period you own it. Cingular doesn't like doing it for free so they really make it painful to replace it, unless you pay for expedited shipping etc. Since its under warranty, they have to replace it but expect them to take a couple of weeks to do so. So convenient. Not.

3) My Cingular modified Razr stopped working suddenly - the keypad just stopped accepting inputs - and they're sending a replacement. In the course of this, I learned another Cingular nightmare mod of the design of the phone: it doesn't by default use the SIM card for storage. That's what they told me. Since my keypad doesn't work, sorry, can't back it up to your SIM. So I will have to re-enter all the numbers (not to mention the lost photos). Why do they do this? I guess the same reason they disable being able to make your own ringtones: because they are profit-driven inconsiderate salesdroids. I am praying that the customer rep I got was just ingorant (trust me, my experience is that most of them are).

The Razr:

1) You will not find a protective covering for this phone that works. It will either render a feature inoperable (like the camera) or it won't actually protect the phone. Several of them out there actually do more damage putting it on then if you dropped it down a flight of stairs.

2) Flimsy feeling keypad

3) Ridiculously obscure and obnoxious user interface and configuration. I mean, basic config has you pressing up to 5 buttons before you get to the directory . . . Braindead.

4) It only updates the time display when you OPEN the phone. You can actually see it do this when you open the flip. This is so braindead a thing to overlook it boggles the mind.

UPSIDE: when this phone works, it's great. Slim, handy, photos aren't bad and it has a good battery life.

Review: BIG NO

The Razor is the WORST I have come across and I have had a cell forever. I know a couple, the boyfriend had to exchange his in a for a new one 5 times, the girlfriend 3 times, I have one as well and refuse to deal with the hassle of even getting another one. We all had the same probelms, you cant keep a charge, can't get calls when charging, can't get into phone book if ou have the same person in there twice the software doesnt like that at all, then making calls and text messages is a pain the buttons are to close and you are always pushing the wrong thing, sometimes the phone makes funky noise just out of the blue, and the speaker phone feature is junk. Sorry Ya'll keep looking.. and Good Luck

Review: Save your money for something that actually works.
by: Alison Caraotta on date: September 14, 2006
Disclaimer: This review only pertains to the Cingular version. A friend of mine has Verizon's and none of these criticisms apply; it's like a completely different phone.

I gave the phone 2 stars because it's pretty. That's the only thing it's got going for it.

First off, it's extremely difficult to navigate, and I'm pretty tech-savvy. As far as doing simple things like changing the ringtone and texting... When I can actually figure out what to do, there are a ridiculous amount of steps. It's just seems like it's programmed for programmers, not average customers. The ringtones it came with blow. There are three REALLY cheesy songs and maybe ten weird little sound effects to choose from.

If I were to rate its durability I'd give it a negative number. I'm on my third replacement right now. The first time, I dialed a number with a little condensation on my finger (I touched a glass, and then touched the keypad), and the entire keypad shut down. The second time, I don't even know what happened, but the keypad broke again in the exact same way.

Lastly, ANYTIME this phone gets near electronic equipment with speakers (ie: television, stereo, digital piano, computer), it sends periodic static through the speakers. It's extremely annoying while watching television. But, on the plus side, I always know when it's going to ring before it does.

Folks, bottom line, sooo not worth the $$. I wish I had the decision to make all over again.

Review: Cool look, but that's about it
by: Franchesca Steph on date: July 9, 2006
After all the hype, I decided to get a Razr. I was surprised that it wasn't cooler. I'm not sure what I expected it to do, but it's a phone, not a super hero.

Yes, it's sleek and the display is pretty, but I soon found out that it rings, I answer it, I talk, I hang up...

Most of my bitterness results from the fact that it reboots itself constantly, displays weird errors all the time, and cuts off my calls in the best of areas....only to go to a black screen and won't turn back on for hours or days. I've since learned that this is a common problem.

Hopefully I can return it for a new one. If only I would have known that my phone wouldn't do back flips or laundry, I would have stuck with my tried and true, if not slightly outdated old phone.

Review: SIMPLY THE BEST
by: Teresa Jean-Simon on date: July 9, 2006
This is simply the best cellphone I have ever seen. It was a Father's Day gift for my son, and he is in love with the phone! When he lets me use the phone, I have been amazed. The speakerphone and ringer are so loud that I had to turn them down. I live in Miami, and my phone needed one of those universal antenna to get 3 or 4 bars signal. The RAZR gets 4 or 5 bars signal almost everytime, and I never lost a call or the signal anywhere. The phone is so slim that I have forgotten it was in my pocket, and it is going to take him months to learn ALL of its features! There are so many accessories, games and services for the V3 RAZR that I feel lucky for my son to have one WITHOUT having yet another monthly bill. Simply amazing phone...

Review: Worst customer services
by: MS on date: July 2, 2006
T-mobile has the worst customer services. Sometimes, It is the company's mistake and they still blame it on the customer. Since I started my plan, I had a problem reciving my bill on time. So, the company start charging me $5 late fee for four consecutive months. Also, when I tried adding additional features such as their text-message-bundle, the change on the account did not take effect till two days later, and I was charged for 10 cents for each message I used in these two days, and It costed me an additional $4. Every time I tried complaining to their customer services, they just wouldn't listen. I am starting to get the feeling that they are just trying to maximize their profit. More than once, if I stay long-enough on the line, they put me on mute so they don't have to listen to my complaining. I feeling that I am being treated like dirt not like a customer. I had the worst customer-services experience with t-mobile. Also, the reception is not the best in the country. I had friends who were using the same phone as the one I have but different network, and they were getting services in places where I don't have it, and they pay about the same amount of money.

Review: Great phone, mediocre battery

The title says it all. Superb styling, but needs recharging about twice as often as my old Nokia.

Review: A Good Phone
by: G. Herrmann on date: May 31, 2006
A phone is a phone, and the RAZR V3 does not dissapoint. So far I have had no problems and everything is great. The design is superb and the phone is reliable. The camera has 4x zoom, which is a nice feature, and has over 30 ringtones, which is also very nice. I am a very happy customer.

Review: Looks great, at least
by: phonefreak on date: April 20, 2006
I have a 3 month old Razr phone and it recently has begun having problems. Ocassionaly, when I flip it open, the screen goes white and then the phone resets itself. Sometimes after the phone has been fully charged, the battery meter drops to 0 when I disconnect it from the charger. It still works the same, just shows a false power level. It shows the correct charge when I reboot the phone or it'll fix itself after a day or so. Every Motorola phone I've owned is sensitive to other electronic devices, and the Razr is no exception. If I am within a few feet of a computer or tv I hear static and buzzing. Even when I'm not near electronics, the Razr always has a soft buzzing sound in the earpiece. Also the earpiece speaker sounds like it's been knocked loose or is just blown altogether (mind you that I've never dropped it) as anything high pitched sounds distorted. Lastly, the software is often very sluggish. Motorola phones in general take longer to think than other phones. Avoid the Razr. Avoid Motorola altogether. Their phones are glitchy and problem-laden. Any google search on the subject will agree.

Review: sweet phone

This phone is a pretty great phone. The major reasons I bought it was the mpeg4 playback and the bluetooth. Also, the camera a little bit. I'd really go with the prepaid service, at least for kids like me who pay for everything they have, go to froogle and type in razr to go. If you don't have enough money, be patient and save up. To the kid before me: If you want your cellphone not to break, get a case and take care of it. Also, you can't really expect a cell phone camera to be blowing-away awesome. If you want memorable pictures of your classmates or somthin like that, then get a digital camera. A camera in a cellphone is a great extra, but i'd just get a seperate disposable camera for fun purposes.
I also don't know who is writing that tracfone ****. It's really getting on my nerves. Tracfone is probably paying him to advertise that.
I hope you guys found this review helpful

Review: A SO-SO PHONE
by: on date: March 2, 2006
every body who likes cell phones knows about the RAZR. its ok, when u buy it prepaid. the camera is just about the worst ive ever tried (that takes it down a star). and the way it can break so easily when u r careless takes the rating down another star. every thing else is ok.
p.s. can somebody post somthing on why some people only talk about free minutes in there reviews? i keep seeing one review (he or she says the same in every review) about trying tracfone instead, he says nothing about the fone, just how great tracfone is. >=(
