Review: Great form factor, lousy performance, mediocre software.
by: J. LAROSA on date: May 10, 2007
I eagerly awaited this phone, but when I got it, heard the "whah-whuuuuuh" trumpet sound in my head not too long after owning it.

Speakerphone: LOUSY; half the people I talk to cannot hear me when I'm on it (although I can hear them quite well). I usually hold it about a foot from my mouth (and had done so with other speakerphone models just fine).

Headset: GOOD; "stock" headset's cord is too short (I'm sure by design so they can upsell you), although it has a nice big button that you can use to hang up (handy so you don't have to look down, esp. while driving). It has 2 earphones, which is good for stereo sound, even when you're talking on it (it is an iTunes phone, after all). Sound quality is decent.

Software: MEDIOCRE. I would expect more from a 2007-model phone, but alas, it is the clunky java interface motorola/cingular has been selling for at least 5 years. For example, 1. does not display time of day when you're on a call. 2. when you miss a call and caller leaves a voicemail, there are two separate messages. One for "new voicemail", then after you check that by calling or cancelling, you get the "missed call" message. Duh! If there's a new voicemail, it probably means I missed a call! You have to push too many buttons in order to find out WHO called you. Lazy programming and poor user experience.

iTunes: GOOD; But, you cannot use an iTunes song as your ringtone. It may as well be two separate devices. Not well integrated. One cool feature is that you can actually listen to iTunes songs via the speakerphone-- a feature that not even iPods has. Other reviewers have much more detail on the iTunes (lack of) features, but since I don't use them that often, I'll stay quiet.

Accessories: I bought the static film cover for the screen. It works great! I also tried the clamshell clear plastic cases, which add a little to the thickness. They sucked. One broke within 3 days of owning, and it didn't really protect it much (compare to an Agent18 case for an iPod, which protects that like a kevlar body suit).

I would recommend this if you're not going to have or don't already own an iPod (I do own one, so I rarely use the iPod feature of this device.)

Review: Good phone, could be better
by: M. J. Roberts on date: May 6, 2007
The SLVR L7 has a nice sturdy feel and is light weight. iTunes sound great and is nice for those who don't want to carry multiple devices. The only things I don't like about the phone are the ear speaker volume and the alarm clock not having not a selection for weekdays/weekends; it is either on or off. The speaker phone is loud and clear, and so far, the battery life has been great (charged 3 times in about 3 weeks, with a lot of music play and a decent amount of phone calls).

Review: Nice try
by: T. Lin on date: April 28, 2007
After reading through many reviews, I narrowed down my choices to two phones: this one, or Sony Ericsson W810i. I bught this one. A few hours of testing has concluded the following problems or areas in need of improvement:

* Phone book - cell phone/home phone/work phone for the same person all show up as seperate entries.
* You can't use a music file as a ringtone.--some user reviews say you could, but I have not figured it out. The free ringer tones come with the phone suck! (Anyone can give detailed instruction??)
* Music syncing requires the USB cable; it won't work over bluetooth.
* Sound quality is below average. When using the headphone, you can hear stat noise when changing track. The volume from the headphone sounds much much louder than the speakerphone or the phone, so loud that it is almost unbearable.
* User manual is badly writen.

Everything else about the phone works just as expected: key pad (about right size), iTune (nice), camera (decent), wireless sync (fine). Sony Ericsson W810i does have a better feel in the hand. But that may be just my impression.

In conclusion:

If not because I like my iTune, I would have bought the Sony W810i (at least for a better feel in my hand). In a couple of years, I think I will really want an iPhone, or whatever that can combine great design, outstanding quality, and integrating capability. This Motorola SLVR L7 has left so much of these unaccomplished. I rate it 3 out of 5, just at the threshold of me keeping it for now.

Review: Good Phone....Need Tips? Mp3 Ringtones.? Where to Buy..?
by: on date: February 24, 2007
I just got this phone yesterday. I'm 14 and this is my first phone...

I bought this phone at BestBuy...It was only $30$. (Just a safer way to buy...not online.)

You can use Mp3 songs on the Phone as Ringtones. I dont think you can use itune songs for it...I havent tryed it yet.

If you have Music ready to put as a ringtone on your computer just follow these instructions.

First...
Plug Your Phone into the Computer w/ your USB cable (make sure it is tight/secured well)

Second- go to my computer on your computer and look for some sign of your phone.

-then click it and there should be atleast one folder there. Click MOBILE and a list of others should show up

-There should be a folder Audio Put Your Music in there.
Now For the Phone...
-Get the clear screen on your phone & hit "-" and go to my stuff
-Click Sounds
-Click "-" once again
-there should be someother than Phone which you click then find your music and click "-" (once Once again) and put MOVE and put it into phone
-Go back to Phone and you should see a list and your track should be at the top and click "-" to Make as a ringtone

Sometimes if might be to big so try a shorter one
make sure you have a memory card
If all else fails call Motorola, the number should be right inside the manual. They have good service unlike others....

To get cheap accessories i would get it on ebay (not sure about amazon, am looking soon

Hope it Helped!

Review: SLVR L7
by: Justin Dones on date: February 12, 2007
I received my L7 from Amazon.com for $[...]. i had to extend my contract with cingular but it was well worth it.

This phone is great. The sound quality from itunes is amazing, although the upload time is horrendous, it took upwards of an hour to upload 85 songs.

The camera is surprisingly good for the phone also. The sound quality with calls is great as well. i haven't tried to connect a bluetooth headset to it yet.

I user interface was hard to get used to at first, but after a day or so I got used to it.

Despite what other people said in their reviews, I don't find the key pad small at all.

Review: I love this phone
by: S.Sakioka on date: January 21, 2007
My account with Cingular was available for an upgrade, so I spent some time researching their phones and picked this one. I am extremely pleased with it! Previously I have owned a Blackberry and a Motorola RZR. I am able to navigate the keypad quickly since I was already used to it from the RZR. The menu is easy to see due to the large screen. The iTunes menu looks exactly the same as on my Video iPod. I was able to bring up iTunes on my computer, plug the phone to the computer using the USB cord the phone comes with, a few second later my phone showed up in the iTunes menu on my computer and I was able to drag and drop all the songs I wanted to add to my phone into that folder. It was very easy. The sound on the phone is good while playing a song and the headphones worked well. The camera and the video capture on the phone were okay also. Won't ever replace my 7.1 digital camera, but nice for snapping pics of my kids doing silly things to send to a family member's phone. Overall the phone is great in my opinion. My husband will probably get the Blackjack, but for me, the price and all the functions on this phone convinced me it was the best choice. Thanks!

Review: Sad little phone
by: E. Lipinski on date: January 17, 2007
I have had this phone for over a year and I am looking to replace it. I have large hands and am frequently dialing with one hand. I picked this phone because it has the largest keypad on a candy bar phone on the market.

There are several things about this phone that are a buzz kill that may or may not be important to you.

- The flat keypad has little tactile feel. I convinced myself that I could train myself on this but a year later I still have a hard time dialing without looking directly at the keypad to ensure which number my finger is on.
- The software is weak. Perhaps I am not doing it right buy syncing this phone book to my Outlook Contacts usually ends up with duplicate entries in at least one of the systems.
- It is not intuitve to do simple things like add an additional phone number to an existing contact.
- The phone `hangs' sometimes. Just like a PC sometimes you just need to reboot it. But I must admit that since that time I through it down in frustration this problem seems less common.
- The headset and powercord share a port. This means you cannot do both at the same time. I know the world is moving to wireless headsets but I am trying to reduce the number of things in my life I need to keep charged.

Oh ya and the thing that is causing me to replace it.
- The call quality stinks on Cingular in Chicagoland

Review: Great phone - for girls
by: JK on date: December 12, 2006
My wife got this phone and even though it is great, I don't think it is a 'guy' phone simply because my hands are too big to comfortably dial. No, I'm not some football linebacker - I'm 6'2", 180.

Besides that, my wife loves it. Guys, stick with the Razr.

Review: Trouble to sync the phone with iTune
by: Frustrated with SLVR on date: December 5, 2006
I had this phone for a month now, but was never able to get iTune to recognize the phone. Basically, I was not able to use the iTune function. I searched internet and found many compmains about this issue - without real good answer. I called Amazon twice and Cingular twice. But, none of them wanted to take responbility.

Review: Cool phone but...
by: J. Jen on date: November 25, 2006
This is my first Motorola phone, and I am very disappoint with its unfriendly user interface. My old Nokia 6101 has a better, smarter, and simpler user interface compare to this new phone. Also, unlike my old Nokia phone, it comes with headset, charger, and usb connector which are made with cheap, low quality material. It really should include a better quality bluetooth headset with a $500+ listing price. Amazon has over priced this locked phone.

Review: Buy one unlocked on Ebay and save $$$$$
by: A. Kalman on date: November 21, 2006
I own an unlocked Moto Black SLVR that I purchased on ebay for under $100.
On ebay make sure you check the sellers feedback history before you purchase a phone. Be aware, watch out for rip off ebay sellers.

A Great Phone, but why lock yourself in a two year contract?
You could arrange with T-mobile 'mobile to go' paid up prepay.
I spent an initial $100 for one thousand minutes that expire in one year.

1,000 Minutes for $100
1-877-778-2107 or 1-800-937-8997

This plan is a lot less expensive than paying a monthly bill.
But, this all dependent on your actual cell phone useage.
If you use more than 200 minutes a month a contract might be more economically feasable.

I am just mentioning this because there are other options available for cell phone users besides the conventional locked in contracts where you subsidize amazon's sale of the phone with your two year contract.

Good Luck!

Well, it is sort of thin and it is sort of black and it sort of has a camera...

(Pros): Design is ok, keyboard seems sturdy and sound quality is acceptable.
(Cons): Very small screen, extremely illogical menu structure and overall controls, miserable quality of the camera compared to other cell phones, very slow and unstable communication with computer. The phone is very heavy.

Summary: returning this phone, getting a Sony Ericsson W810i.

Review: Want more than 100 songs?
by: on date: November 3, 2006
Buy a 1gb card and remove itunes...(you can use the 512mb card but you have to compress all the songs to 128kbps)....then after you remove itunes...go to my comp (you might want to restart your comp)

After that...

1. go to "My Computer"

2. select your phone there.

3. you will see "itunes and mobile"

4. select "mobile"

5. then select "audio"

6. just drag all your songs there

note: unplug the USB and go to 'menu' and select 'my stuff' go to 'audio' and while you are in the audio just press the menu botton and select "switch storage device" select your card and you should be able to listen to ur songs...I think u wont be able to, random or all the things u expect from itunes in this phone...u will be able to fast forward tho...

I hope this is helpfull

Review: A Very Good Phone
by: B. Hewitt on date: October 25, 2006
I choose the SLVR over the flip Razr and I am glad I did. I have put it in a very small holster case and clipped my phone onto my belt. And I like the heavy solid feel to this phone.

The volume is great! I have no problem hearing on this phone. The speakerphone is very good too. And the signal is great so that means my calls are clear.

The iTunes is a great feature and sounds great on this phone. And using the iTunes program the songs are simple to upload. And you can store up to 100 tracks.

The camera has a very good quality for a VGA camera. It is not a 1.2 mgp like the newer razr but is is still a good camera.

Battery life is very good.

The phone comes with an itunes cd/rom (but you will have to download the newer version) for the computer song downloads, usb cable, headphones with a mic, and a headphone adapter for regular headphones.

Text messaging with this phone is great.

Two of the drawbacks of this phone is the postage-sized photo caller ID when a call comes in. If a regular photo takes up nearly the whole screen why couldn't they creat the photo ID to do the same. Also you can't use the charger and the headset at the same time because they use the same jack.

Overall this phone does does everything very well.

Review: More than just a cellphone
by: A. K. Gomez on date: October 20, 2006
I've had around 6 different cellphones in about 4 years and I wouldn't change this one for anything in this world. The sound is clear and loud. So far I've dropped it like 1'000 times and still works like when I bought it. Oh, And It's being inside the toilet too. Thinking about getting a new cellphone? This is an excellent choice. Stylish, great performance and it'll make you look good for sure. Enjoy!

Review: Fantastic Phone
by: Jer Bear on date: October 18, 2006
First I should say that when I first got this phone I wished I had gotten a Razr like some members of my family. A flip phone I could just shove in my pocket with the tiny outboard screen and larger buttons really seemed more what I wanted, but after a couple of weeks I wouldn't trade. I really like this phone.
Pros:
1. I can fit it in the watch pocket of my pants. Though it isn't necessary I also slip it under my belt which not only completely secures the phone but makes it almost impossible to see. I like keeping a phone on me, but having a bulky holster hanging off my belt is as nerdy as still thinking that wearing khaki pants with a blue shirt isn't a fashion faux pas.
2. I don't drive a Mercedes so the road noise is bad enough that when I slow down I have to turn down the radio quite a bit, but I have no problem hearing on this phone in my car while on the highway.
3. The voice dial works well at all times, even over road noise. Speakerphone is one of the best I've ever used.
4. I receive signals everywhere. All my calls are clear even down in the bowels of the sub-basement of my company's building surrounded by wireless routers, handheld radios, 3 feet thick brick and tons of steel. The people on the other end say I sound perfectly clear most of the time. Electrical storms can cause static.
5. The Itunes sounds great and is amazingly simple to load. They've solved the problem with using different earphones by supplying an adapter. Of course, you can't use your favorite set of headphones to use the telephone, just the Itunes.
6. At first I thought the buttons were too small, but so far they haven't been a problem at all.
7. The camera quality is very good. If you think that this should replace your digital camera then you're confused about what this product is. It's a phone. And a free one at that, through Amazon.
8. This phone is incredibly easy to learn how to work and set up. The menus couldn't be easier. The personalized ring tones and pictures work great.
9. You can do anything else you want with this phone while the tunes are playing. It automatically pauses to let you answer the phone, of course.
10. You can answer the phone and dial out using the headphones.
11. Direct access to major settings, phonebook, and the ITunes.
12. Heavy solid feel.
13. Battery life is very good. I use the phone all day, play tunes several hours a day, and usually change several settings (which really eats up the battery for some reason)just because I wanna and I only charge the phone every other day. I've never really been low on charge.
14. Not the largest screen, but bright and easy to read.
15. I saved money with this phone since I don't need a car charger or a holster.
Cons:
1. Bluetooth headphones only work with the phone not the Itunes.
2. Itunes limited to 100 tracks, but then I should remember, this is a phone not an actual Ipod.
3. Some of the side buttons are really easy to press when removing the headphone/USB jack or anytime really.
4. Can't use the charger and the headset at the same time. They use the same jack.
5. Earbuds are uncomfortable.
6. The manual sucks.

I should mention that everyone will want to look at the phone. It's a real time waster, but kinda cool.
One suggestion: They make this in Pink that looks like a brushed metal- really cool. They should do the same in powder blue.

Review: Great Phone-itunes messed it up
by: T. Cleary on date: October 11, 2006
First of all, this phone does everything very well. Plus it looks great! A forewarning is to buy it at Best Buy so you can transfer your old number over and you can see the phone and play with it to see if it really is for you, but this phone has great features for everyone. It has an average camera as you expect on most normal phones theese days. It's battery life is great lasts a few days with moderate usage. The itunes is a great feature, but apple is greedy and limited the itunes to 100 songs so they could sell more ipods. This has nothing to do with the phone just a bad buiseness decision, but still plenty of songs to have with you. It comes with an itunes cd, usb cable, headphones with a mic, and a headphone adapter for regular headphones. Also the reception with cingular is as good as it gets, at least where I live. The other cool features include picture ID and special ringtones for each contact entry, an easy way to identify when your family, or your best friend, is calling you. Text messaging with this phone is great. It has a autofill feature so you dont need to enter entire words. And the buttons, although small, are designed so that it is hard to press two at a time. One last thing, the screen is amazing. I bought tetris and the 24 (Fox TV show) game and the graphics are impressive for a phone.

That's double the price of the phone if you buy it without getting any discount for signing up with any carrier.

Review: Read the agreement
by: Ashley Martin on date: September 22, 2006
This phone is an extreme bargain through Amazon. I ordered the phone last Thursday and received it on Saturday. While reading another review, a customer complained about losing his equipment discount for bringing a new number over to Cingular, this is clearly explained on the site that Cingular and Amazon do not have a number portability aggreement. Read Your Aggreement. As for the phone, I have had it for almost a week and already have 70+ mp3's in my itunes(which were extremely easy to operate). This service is what I expected it to be. I came over from Nextel, so any other service is like I hit the lottery. We all know Verizon is the best service, but Cingular is up there as well. The phone was my reasoning for going with Cingular. For those of you who are wanting phone to take quality pictures, this is not for you. The camera does what it is supposed to, take pictures for fun or memory basis. One downfall, the speaker to talk into is in a position where it can get covered up while talking which makes it extremely hard to hear. Great Phone, I would recommend to anyone.

Review: can you hear me now?????
by: mad G.I. on date: September 20, 2006
Well I have had this POS for about 8 months, and have nothing but trouble, no one can ever hear me, and I certainly can't hear them either. I have a contract with cingular, and have to suck it up til its complete, or pay a penalty, both options stink. This makes a nice paperweight, otherwise useless. Have not tried the ipod features, I have an ipod already, so don't need that part. Cingular boasts having the fewest dropped calls, may be true, because I can't seem to complete them, so how can they be dropped????? Hind sight being 20/20, should have gone with Verizon................update, STAY AWAY FROM CINGULAR !!!! I have had 3 of these phones, and all had the same problem, dropped calls and poor audio, not enough volume. Now one of the phones I returned is being charged to my account, they claim I broke the motherboard, with out damaging the phone exterior at all, not a mark on it. First I was told the charge would be removed, then after seeing this on my account online, I called to verify that it was being removed, and they said it was not, and they never promised to remove it in the first place. I did not write the name of the person who told me it would be removed, thats my fault, I am keeping a record of everyone that I deal with at cingular, what a nightmare, this incident had been reported to the better business bureau, I hope to have this resolved, and possibly early contract termination, terrible service and terrible company, now rethinking verizon too, better with a pay as you go phone, less hassles in the end I think.

Review: BEWARE OF RESTRICTIONS WITH AMAZON CONTRACT
by: Anthony S. Dabramo on date: September 19, 2006
I recently ordered a Motorola SLVR L7. When I received the phone (2 weeks later) I realized they had already assigned me a phone number. Not to mention the phone number they assigned me would be a long distance number from where I live. Amazon informed me that I can not change that phone number, it is a contract they have wiht Cingular. They said if they switched the phone number I would lose any incentives I received through Amazon (the phone at a discount). THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO KNOW BEFORE ORDERING THE PHONE.

Review: great small phone with fun features
by: G. Burris on date: September 12, 2006
Google Maps Mobile is a killer app on this phone. So are Tetris and the Opera Mini web browser. And, oh yeah, it's a great phone.

Just to clear a few bad reviews up:
- SMS is easy with Motorola's iTap text entry, similar in function to Nokia'a word completion. POP3 and IMAP mail is easy , too.
- There is a media player. I have loaded 15 minute long video clips on mine.
- You can see the clock while iTunes is running.
- My SLVR L7 has better reception than my RAZR V3 did on Cingular. You should expect reception differences if you change providers, better AND worse depending on where you are.
- You're not going to get a great camera in a phone unless you drop major bucks. The VGA camera in the SLVR hits the toy camera sweet spot.
- You can use any MP3 you like as a ringtone. Just copy the MP3 file to your phone's audio directory when you plug it in via USB.

Review: Awesome! I love it!

I got this phone through cingular when I was able to upgrade. I shelled out $150 for it but I don't regret it one bit. I got a 512 micro sd card, headset, and of course a charger. I feel like I got a good deal and I am really enjoying this phone so far. I have had it for about a month and I have just loved the itunes function and the fact that I have a 512mb card to also store HUGE amounts of video and photos on the phone. I Am digging this phone and you should definately get it with no hessitation. You will not regret it!

Review: It's awesome. Moto earned my attention back
by: Mr. Lam P. Huynh on date: September 1, 2006
I used to be very disappointed with Motorola for years due to poor battery life, terrible sound and speaker. But now, the SLVR L7 brought me back.
It was a great phone more than I expected. The slim design is very attractive and stylish. Metal finish makes it looks stable. Speaker is very loud and clear. It is much better than the Razor V3 which is always have static on the speaker. Screen is bright, beautiful with some 3D effect. Functions are not much different from the V3, camera is a little bit better. I would not expect this phone make good photos. I tried several camera phones up to 2 megapixels, the different seems to be the size of the picture, not quality, so don't spend $$$ for a 2MP or 3MP camera phone. If I want to take nice photos, I better use my Canon 8MP camera.
I use the camera on the phone to take notes. Wherever I see something that I have to write down but don't have a pen and paper with me, I use my phone. An address, a number, an article that interesting and I only have a few seconds to record it, my phone does the job perfectly.
Indeed, you need to clean the flashy keypad all the time since it keeps fingerprints and makes the phone look dirty. However, the screen will not scratch by normal use, that's a good thing.
Some L7 version has itunes, but not much different with the built-in Motorola Digital Media Player, even worse because itunes on Moto only hold 100 songs max.
Phone only supports up to 512MB microSD card, so you can't call it an Ipod Nano replacement. But I better save the battery for important calls rather than listen to the music on the phone, which is I seldom do to kill time.
Overall, it is a great phone. Buy it, and you'll love it.

Review: Still on the Fence
by: KatieScarlett on date: March 21, 2006
I bought this phone as an alternative to buying an iPod and the Pink Razr. I figured I'd save myself a couple hundred bucks by combining the two. And while this is true, I'm not entirely sure that I like the phone itself.

I've had it for about a month now. The iTunes playback is awesome. I take it to the gym with me so it has more than enough memory for the time I'm there. I don't like that I can't see the clock when I'm in iTunes mode though. That would be helpful.

This is my first camera phone, so I'm totally digging that feature too. Of course these aren't super-quality shots, but that's why I have a digital camera.

As for the keypad, I find it quite taxing sometimes to enter #s. And it's very difficult to text message. I feel like my fingers are too big to hit these tiny little buttons. The word-recognition feature is cool, though, once you get used to it.

From what people tell me, I'm not sure that I'm getting as great reception and voice clarity with this phone than with my old one. And that's the thing I have the biggest problem with. Yes, it has iTunes and a camera and all the bells and whistles, but when it comes down to it - I need it to function as a phone. It works fine if I'm by a window, but I completely lose connection if I walk to the other side of my apartment. Not cool. I haven't gotten the BlueTooth piece yet, and I'm hoping that it will improve the choppy-ness I experience now.

I give the phone 3/5 stars. It's not everything I had hoped it would be, but it isn't too bad. I'll probably keep it for a year or two then go back to Nokia. From what I hear, Nokia is a bit better than Motorola. I'm glad I bought this over the iPod + Razr option, but we'll see how the phone holds up with extended use.

Wow this phone is amazing!!!!!! The music reception is probably 5 years ahead of time. The battery will hold for almost 2-3 days. Call reception is very clear. The best phone for $200 bucks. You will get your moneys worth. The video and pictures are almost good as digital camera's. I can't say nothing but good thins about this phone. Deffinetly ahead of time.

Review: Cool phone with minor drawbacks.
by: Cell Guy on date: March 11, 2006
This is a great phone for style and looks...

But these days, you want it all on a phone. And on the functionality department.. it lacks numerous advanced capabilities:

- Camera quality is very poor. This is a VGA quality phone, you won't get the same quality as megapixel camera phones
- If you guys buy the unlocked phones, you won't get iTunes. It's a given. The agreement between Motorola, iTunes and Cingular is to sell phones in the U.S. with lower cost but restricted capabilities. For example, if you buy this phone in Europe (or some auction sites) - you'll be able to use a 512 MB trans flash card (or MicroSD) and comes with a standard MP3 digital player. However, if you buy this phone through Cingular in the U.S., you're limited to only the 128 MB card and only up to 100 songs on your iTunes. They don't allow for more than 100 songs (again because of the U.S. contract agreement between those 3 companies).
- SMS (Text Messaging) is overtly complicated on this phone. It lacks the ease of use of dictionaries and auto text input like Nokia phones
- No Media Player. The purpose of memory cards is to ease the transfer of large media files such as real or wmv so you can watch clips/movies on your mobile devices. But Motorola is not shipping their phones with any media players anytime soon. Check out SonyEricsson or Nokia phones for these.
- Trans Flash cards (MicroSD) is available up to 1GB these days and they're planning to ship out a 2GB version this year. But this phone lacks the voltage power to support anything larger than 512 MB. Therefore less MP3s and pictures/videos memory capability.

But I have to give it props for the style and design. Their Research and Development division obviously knows what they're doing. It looks awesome and it's realy an eye catcher. If you guys want to have a stylish phone with awesome capabilities, you might want to check out the Nokia 3250. It looks promising so far.

2 Stars for the SLVR.

Review: Sexy phone that works great.
by: N. Clarke on date: February 27, 2006
I have had my phone for about a week now and it's great. It came with the stereo earpiece which works great. The reception is always clear. Someone said the screen was always greasey from their hair so I'm recommending that they use the earpiece. Duh.

What I love about this phone is that you don't have to pull the phone out to make a call or answer a call.
Just set up the voice dial and auto answer.

I thought the phone would have a voice recorder but it doesn't.
It would also be great if it was a flip phone.

The iTunes was easy to set up. I have 100 songs on my phone and still have room for some more.

You can delete the alarms. But it's a phone not an alarm clock.

I Highly recommend it.

Review: Too complicated for daily use!
by: M. Finch on date: February 20, 2006
My cell phone is information central for me. I use it as an alarm clock, phone book, calendar, phone, and simple way to check email thru out the day. I loved the idea of a camera and iTunes as well.

Things I didn't like:

So, you can only store 5 alarm clock entries. Once you've filled them up, you can't delete or change them. In less than 2 weeks I'd maxed out that feature. User's manual had no mention of this limitation.

Phone book was good, easy to update and get to. I didn't like that I couldn't designate multiple phone numbers for one entry. Phone saves each phone number as a separate entry in the address book.

Calendar, too darned complicated for me. On my old Nokia I could add appointments to my calendar while driving. DON'T try this with the SLVR. Most people I know get together with are in my phone directory. Phone directory and calendar aren't linked.

Phone sound worked although friends said I was sometimes garbled. I realized I kept covering the hole your voice goes into with my finger! I liked the blue tooth. Wish you could get that with other brands of phones...

Email worked great. No complaints. Although I set up a shortcut for it, but could never get the short cut to work. Read the owner's manual 2x to make sure I was doing it right.

Menu structure on the phone is pretty complicated and deep. I found it hard to find features, I'm sure after another few months of use this would have gone away.

The screen was always covered with oils and grease from my face... Ewe!

Yes, it's a sexy hot phone, but ... after owning it for 2 weeks I returned it to Cingular and switched back to a Nokia. Nokia is more user friendly from my perspective and frankly I don't have the time or patience to figure out a phone that I have to read a user's manual to figure out.

Review: SLVR L7 Sweet Phone... Luv it
by: Samuel Bartleson on date: February 18, 2006
I just got this phone and it's awesome! I never used itunes before and it was very easy to figure out. I can't believe that little phone has a 512 mb removable memory card..WOW! Yes it only holds a 100 songs but thats plenty for me.

I also love the yahoo and AIM features to IM friends. The speaker is great and love the key-pad. The phone is so small it fit in my front pocket of my dress shirt for work and I forget it's there.

Only thing that comes with the phone is an ear piece and USB cable, the rest you need to buy which is standard nowadays.

I ordered all the accessorys (belt holder, car charger etc.) off ebay for 13 bucks. Gr8 phone !! Highly recommend!

Review: A very good cell phone, but...

This is a very good cell phone and Amazon.com gives the best deal. But, you can't transfer your old phone number from different provider to Cingular through Amazon.com. If you transfer your old phone number, you won't get your rebate. Please read amazon.com rebate rules carefully!!!
You can read about how to transfer your number through this link : http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/feature/-/508597/102-6686881-6992121

Review: Allmost the best.
by: Hannah Obeidallah on date: February 13, 2006
This phone is realy nice. It looks realy sleek and sexy. I allready have 12 songs on it after a day of use, and it just looks so sexy. 100 songs isnt a lot, but I dont listen to music as much as most people. The camera isnt the best compared to other high end phones, but it gets the job done. The video record sucks, but this is a phone, not a digital camera. The sound is amazing, you can use this as a miniature stereo. It is blue tooth capable, which is nice. I just realy like this phone, plus, its realy not that expencesive. 300 dollars is actually isnt as high as alot of top line phones nowadays. I got it for 200, but thats a different story. Basically, I would refer this phone to anyone who wants a nice sexy phone.

Review: Motorola SLVR L7
by: C. Chaffin on date: February 9, 2006
I purchased this phone the day after it came out, and am extremely happy with it. I've got an iPod nano, so I did not predominately purchase it for its iTunes capabilities, but I have found myself using it quite often in certain scenarios. I noticed that an earlier review made mention of the phone book listing each number as a seperate entry. There is a simple fix to that problem. If you edit those entries and store them on the phone, rather than on the SIM, you can condense the numbers into a single entry rather than multiple entries. Also, the reviewer mentioned the lack of a belt holster, which is untrue. The day after the phone came out, I purchased it from a corporate Cingular store along with a pair of beautiful belt holsters, one brown leather and one black leather. All in all, I've got no complaints about this phone whatsoever.

Review: SLVR + iMac
by: Blake Sorensen on date: February 7, 2006
Overall, I'm satisfied with the phone.

Things I like:
* Bluetooth Data sync works perfectly with the iMac and no additional software is needed.
* Voice dialing is built in and works well over the included headset. There's also a configurable softkey for voice dialing. This alleviates the need to navigate Motorola's awful phone book.
* iTunes is interrupted for incoming calls and has a pretty smooth transition back into music after call is over.
* Charges over USB connection or wall plug.
* Feels like a nice, solid phone despite the plastic case.

Things I don't like:
* Biggest Problem: Syncing with iTunes on an iMac will hang to the point of requiring a reboot of the computer, but syncing with iTunes on a PC works fine. Go figure. I hope this is something they're working on.
* Motorola's phone book - cell phone/home phone/work phone for the same person all show up as seperate entries, thus making the address book a pain to scroll through. However, see the voice dialing comment above.
* You can't use a music file as a ringtone.
* Music syncing requires the USB cable; it won't work over bluetooth.
* Still has 100 song limit despite a large memory card. I've been syncing every other day or so to a playlist I created specifically for the phone. It has about 1000 songs in it and picks 100 to load onto the phone, which keeps the music from getting stale. It takes about an hour, but I plug it into the USB cable to charge at night anyway.
* No belt cases available yet.

Review: Good so far
by: P. Mckeown on date: February 3, 2006
I bought this 2 days after it came out, so please take that into consideration.

This is a very nice phone. It weighs more than you would expect, but in my opinion that is a good thing. The buttons are much better than the V600 that I upgraded from. Dialing and texting is much easier. The phone is also much more responsive than my previous phone. That I believe is a combination of processor upgrades and updated software. The OS is pretty much the same as you will find on any Moto product, but they have made quite a few refinements. Bluetooth reception is excellent on this phone. I always thought that my HS810 was the problem, but now it is clear as a bell.

Drawbacks:
I did not buy this for iTunes - good thing. The iTunes interface runs choppy, and the music cuts out from time to time (e.g. editing a contact or turning on the camera). This should not really be a problem, assuming that you will not be doing a lot of configuration while listening to it. Also, there appears to be a memory leak or some other kind of bug related to voice dial. While recording entries the phone just stopped accepting voice dial recordings. I turned it off and on again, and had no problem saving the rest of my voice dial contacts. Finally, the placement of the camera makes it an inevitable repository for fingerprints so if you take a lot of pictures, make sure to bring the proper cleaning cloth.

Overall I am very pleased with this phone, but in 12 months it will be time for a new one - aint gadgets great???
